Do you have any New Year’s resolutions that reappear every year but never get ticked off the to-do list?

I was so struck by an interview conducted years ago with the late Johnny Clegg where the interviewer commented on Clegg’s ability to cross boundaries – to deeply appreciate and connect with another culture. The interviewer asked Clegg if had any advice for others wanting to do the same and he replied that for anyone serious about building bridges and appreciating another culture the very best thing to do is to become a student again – to learn a language. A few weeks ago I heard that the popular language App, [Duolingo](https://duolingo.com), at last has an isiZulu course. So, after many years of failing to learn the language spoken by millions in our country, I’m trying again. I’m slowly making progress (helped by gentle daily encouragement from Samson). It’s good to be a student again, and the App is fun too!

Not ready to learn a new language, but keen to learn a new skill? If you'd like some help learning to play the guitar I’m happy to gather a group together for some introductory lessons.

Are you learning something new at the moment? Or do you have a skill that you may be able to share with others?
