At our Exec meeting this week, we were so encouraged to hear about the planning that is underway for our confirmation course for this year. Mbulelo and Natalie have been working on the details and at this stage we are looking to run the course in the third term and to draw heavily on the excellent Youth Alpha materials for the course. More info will be available soon.

Churches have different practices and views when it comes to baptism. In the Methodist Church, we offer infant baptism (sometimes called Christening) where a baby is brought by their parents to be embraced and welcomed by God and God’s people. Infant baptism emphasises the grace of God. What still needs to happen though is an informed choice and expression of faith, and confirmation provides this opportunity, as young adults now confirm the path initially chosen by their parents and make promises for themselves.

We haven’t had a confirmation class at WMC for a few years, so we expect that in this year’s course there will be a number of slightly older younger adults participating. If there is enough interest we could also consider offering an adult class for adults who would like to be baptised and/or confirmed. Let me know if that would interest you.
